                                    love                 loved
                                    like                  liked

  Examples :               study              studied
                                  carry               carried
                                  hurry               hurried

D ) But if the verb ends in a vowel (a,e,i,o,u) plus -y you have to add          only -ed

                               stay               stayed

Sometimes you have to double the last consonant if the verb has
   1 syllable , ending in a single consonant ,  proceded by a short vowel .     ( If ends - consonant - vowel - consonant )

Examples  :                stop                stopped
