ONCHA BLANCO
 

Curriculum                                                       
She was born on 19th ,June 1950, in Lires, Cee, A Coruña. .                    
 She is a writer and a retired teacher.                                               
Her activity as a teacher started at 'Nemiña' School in Muxía. Then she worked in Ézaro, Brens, Dumbría and Cee.                                                    
She finished her activity as a teacher at 'Agra de Raices' Secondary School.
where she taught  Galician Language and Literature.

Together with other teachers, she coordinates and writes several textbooks of Primary and Secondary Education as well as the Didactic Guides. She was a correspondent for several years and collaborated with her students in radio programmes. She imparted and coordinated courses on Galician Language and projects for teachers formation.

 She got 'O Facho' Prize on two occasions (1982 and 1983) and was finalist of 'Barco de Vapor' Prize (1988), finalist ,three times, of 'Merlín' Prize (1996 , 1999 and 2003) and accesit of 'Lazarillo' Prize (1997).Premio Lecturas “Galix” (2002), finalist of Frei Martiño Sarmiento Prize (2007) ...

PEACE DAY 2022

THE PEACE CRANE PROJECT

: SADAKO AND THE THOUSAND PAPER CRANES

Sadako Sasaki inspired the world with her origami peace cranes. She folded thousands from her hospital bed before she tragically died from the long-term effects of the atomic bomb dropped on Hiroshima.



Sadako’s friends wanted to make sure that Sadako was remembered. They started collecting money to build a statue of her, including by writing to school head teachers asking them for a donation.                                                                                             
Some newspapers spread the word across the whole of Japan  In 1958, a statue of    Sadako was built in Hiroshima Peace Park . It is called the Children’s Peace  Monument.                                                                                                                               
At the bottom of the statue there is a plaque that says: ‘This is our Cry, this is our Prayer, Peace in the World .’                                                                                                                                           
   The Children's Peace Monument, with a figure  of Sadako Sasaki at the top of the statue, and a boy and a girl at the sides. The glass cases in the background contain paper cranes .
